    Ian, great recap.

I was going back and forth for whether B.J. Thompson should play DE or TE, but the other day when reviewing Temple film, I noticed that they had a guy that they labeled as a DE/TE and he played both ways. He played a lot of TE, and then would come in as a DE for passing situations. Rhule talked about Thompson playing both ways, so I think this is a likely outcome for him.

I’m with you on Lovett, he’s the perfect All-Purpose Back in this system. He’s kind of like current BU RB Terence Williams, but less powerful and more versatile.

I’m a bit the opposite with you on Sneed/Ebner, I like Sneed a lot more. To me, watching Sneed’s film he looked just like OSU’s James Washington. I don’t think Ebner is sudden enough to be much more than a straight-line deep threat (which is valuable, but I don’t see him becoming an ISO guy).

Defensive Back coach, when asked about Timarcus Davis, seemed very genuine when he said “it’s the best junior tape I’ve ever seen.” I think the big schools must have been scared off by the ACL tear, but this will probably work in BU’s favor.

Also with you on Bernard, I think he was seriously underrated, one of the better players in this class.

That’d be hard to play both ways, if they do that I think they’d be more likely to teach him DE and then bring him on occasionally to catch red zone tosses at TE.

I thought Ebner was very sudden but…WRs are tough. The guys who hone their craft will stand out, most of them are pretty dang athletic in this league these days.

Didn’t know about the ACL tear, makes a lot of sense.

Baylor also added QB Anu Solomon, a graduate transfer from Arizona. Solomon (6-2, 206) has thrown for 6,922 yards and 49 touchdowns against just 16 interceptions in his three seasons at Arizona. In 2014 as a redshirt freshman he threw for 3,793 yards and 28 touchdowns while guiding the Wildcats to the Pac-12 championship game. He led all FBS freshmen in passing yards that season.
Solomon will have one season of eligibility remaining.

      Oh true, forgot about him.

He ran a spread-option system at Arizona and seemed to not get along very well with RichRod but played because he made plays.

His fit with Rhule should be fascinating.

Hey Ian, thought i’d update with a few notes now that these guys are actually here.

Saulin is playing LT now. Baylor’s #s on OL are worse than on DL, so it was made for depth but sounds like it’ll be permanent.

Pitre is playing SAM LB, and coaches really like him there.

Thompson is playing DE and redzone TE.

Miller at C, Newman at RG, Klinge at RT, Anderson at RT, Moore at LT, Saulin at LT.

Ebner at RB for depth purposes (Smith tore ACL in spring).

Yeah, Miller starting, both Newman and Klinge are on two deep.

Harrison Hand will play at CB, too.

Terrance Williams is out til conference play, so both Ebner and Lovett will play at RB.

Rhule mentioned probably playing Artis and Thompson in pass rush situations.
