Good thoughts Ian but the Big 12 had more picks than the ACC on a per team basis.

The top 5 teams in SEC had 50 picks. The other 9 had 13 picks. It is very much a top heavy league

Per team would have been a good column. Still, if not for Texas and OU the B12 would be the AAC.

I always scoffed at the idea that Kenneth Murray was a first-round-caliber player since a team could get a very similar player in the 3rd or 4th round with Jordyn Brooks. And then Brooks goes and gets drafted in the first round. So much for that.

The Chargers were pumped about getting Murray…they plan to play him at Will and started they like his ability to run sideline to sideline and play in space. Ironically I think the style of play in the Big 12 helped Murray and Brooks get drafted high.

You’ve made a really compelling case this offseason that Patterson is no longer doing more with less, and that the reverse might now be true. The ceiling of TCU has diminished considerably and the floor looks to be lowering a bit as well.

I’m not complaining, I’ve disliked the Horned Frogs since the end of the 2012 game against WVU (and absolutely loathed them since they ripped Clint Trickett’s head off). It’s just surprising to see a guy as successful and innovative as Patterson lose his fastball in real time. Wonder if he’s got a bounce in him, might just take good OC hire and TCU will give him a lot of time. But even so, I’ll be surprised if he makes a serious run at another conference title.

He’s got 3 years left on his contract and his big move after missing a bowl game was to hire all his old assistants and pals that were available. Looks like he’s riding out into the sunset on his own terms and isn’t overhauling anything. Kinda like the opposite of Mack Brown after 2010 when he fired his best man Greg Davis and hired a bunch of new staff.

      Big questions are
-What do Jerry Kill and Doug Meacham offer to the offensive room?
-How far does Max Duggan come along this offseason?
-Can they prep a young team for 2020 with a reduced offseason and no bowl practices?
-Now that he’s zeroing in on D and delegating offensive oversight to Kill, does Gary tinker with his 4-2-5? Go 3-down or otherwise make some adjustments?

I’m not ruling out TCU having one last hurrah under Patterson before he wraps up his career. 2020 doesn’t look like it to me though.
