Generally teams spend much of their bowl practices nailing down what they’ll need to win their bowl game…but two weeks is a long time and most coaches can’t help but get some basic install and work in with their younger players.
For a game like Florida State vs Michigan, the ‘Noles are going to want to double down on their run game with Dalvin Cook and Michigan is going to want to nail down all of the needed run fits to stop him. I’m expecting the battle between their “visa card” Jabrill Peppers and Cook to be a determining matchup in that game.
However, I’m also curious to see how these young QBs and passing attacks are coming along. Wilton Speight showed some flashes and could conceivably make a leap next year for Michigan although he’ll be working with a revamped skill roster. Deondre Francois had a very solid first year and down the stretch started finding big Auden Tate in the passing game.
Over at SB Nation I explain how to watch for both of those factors in this compelling Orange Bowl.
