Over at Inside Texas I took the time to find a full Cam Rising game on youtube, broke down his performance in it, and then did a thorough writeup on what I saw from the 4-star signal-caller.
Rising was an OU-commit and it looked like Texas had settled on 3-star Oklahoman Casey Thompson with perhaps an aim to add another QB in the class. Then Herman went and stole Rising from the Sooners, leaving them in a difficult spot of trying to pull the local kid who is still committed to Texas. All very compelling drama.
Anyways, you can tell a lot more about a kid from watching how defenses attack him and how he responds so check out that article (it’s free) for a glimpse into what this particular 4-star looks like as a a high school junior.

Few college football journalists can match Bruce Feldman in terms of embedding himself in a football culture and telling the story. Ed Orgeron gave him big time access at Ole Miss to a full recruiting cycle and the results are compelling and illuminating on the art of college recruiting (minus the shady stuff which Feldman manages to miss).
