Is up at Inside Texas, if you follow this link.
Interestingly, Texas and Baylor are both pursuing similar paths to dominance in the Big 12. The Bears are mixing modern pro-style offense (drop back passing with 11 personnel) with a 22 personnel jumbo set for when they need to run the ball. That might work…I have more faith in the latter panning out then the former.
Texas’ strategy is to execute modern pro-style offense with the QB run game as the adjunct that makes the run game work. You can nail down pass protection with your OL in practice and utilize flex TEs if your run game can regain some advantage at the point of attack by leaving a DL unblocked for the QB to read. That’s the path for Texas to take and I suspect it’s what Herman will indeed look to do.
Incidentally, that’s what Greg Davis was doing and it was mighty effective for Texas when they had Vince Young and Colt McCoy.
Philly Frog
Color me shocked you would use the name Greg Davis anywhere near a UT fan, Ian.
Blasphemer!
