The path to bringing Georgia back to national contention is honestly one of the easier ones in college football, at least in terms of the early steps.
Georgia is sittingĀ on top of a ton of talent and I’m not even talking about nearby Florida which is even more loaded. Georgia produces tons and tons of top football players and the Bulldogs get a great initial crack at all of them as the premier program in the state.
What’s more the rest of the SEC East is really down right now, largely due to incompetent QB play at basically every program in the division. The fierce defenses don’t make it any easier to break in new QBs either and the Dawgs’ own defense is filled with big, fast defenders that can cover a lot of ground and then bring the wood when they arrive.
So step one, takeover the SEC East. With Jacob Eason and most of the defense returning next season, they should be able to pull that off.
Step two, win the SEC title or else beat enough SEC West teams to be in the top four and enter the college football playoff. They’re probably not getting there until year three or four (if they get it) with Jacob Eason, if at all.

“On the downside, the Dawgs have to replace … four out of five OL starters.”
Considering how atrocious Georgia’s offensive line was last year, I’m not seeing that as a downside. Fresh blood cannot make the situation worse than it was.

Ha, well it depends on who’s waiting in the wings. I think plugging in new starters that have been in the program for a couple of years can be a boon. Looks like they’re not quite there yet though and have to move their star guard out to tackle.
